One of the first giant casino chips that I painted was this Moulin Rouge Hotel & Casino piece. The Moulin Rouge was the first desegregated casino in Las Vegas when it opened on May 24th, 1955 and was partially owned by boxing great Joe Louis. The opening of this casino definitely helped the civil rights movement and its location is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The architecture of the structure was designed in the Googie-populuxe style, sleek and modern.
This fine art piece measures 24 inch diameter and is hand painted on solid wood. It’s ready for any entertainment room and is coated with clear resin.
